What's going on inside your motorcycle engine?

This video was shared with me via one of the many motorcycle e-mail lists I monitor. Fascinating to see just what's going on inside our engines, how hard they work.

"Overhead Cam at 14K RPM" posted by iHeart Auto

If you're anything like me, you'll watch the video at the beginning and impatiently skip ahead to the part where they start increasing the rpms. But then when you get there you'll realize that it's going so fast you can't see a damn thing! You lose perspective as to what is going on because it's happening too fast. So you'll rewind back to the beginning and watch what is going on at a speed where you can follow it. And then be amazed that all that can happen so fast at higher rpms!

The Beagles!

All the political stuff I've been posting on this blog has been making me sad. Frustrating to see how people abandon core beliefs to support scum, for no reasons that I can discern. Not to mention that the Packers lost. I mean, did they really think they could win without playing any defense at all, the whole year?

So, here's something that should cheer anyone up. THE BEAGLES! This cracks me up. I should have thought of this.

"The Beagles"

This next part of the post I shouldn't have to do. But since I'm getting old, I fear that I must. Do you know WHY that picture of the Beagles is funny? I mean, it's not just because of the beagles themselves (as cute as they are!).

If you don't know why it's funny, check out some of these images:

Some of the most famous posters have the Beatles shown in this same arrangement. Including this one:

Quote of the Day: George Orwell on Intellectuals

“There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.” - George Orwell

Not sure if this quote is legitimate or not. You can find this Orwell quote all over the internet, in different forms, but it may be misattributed. From Wikiquote:
"Possibly a paraphrase of Bertrand Russell in My Philosophical Development (1959): 'This is one of those views which are so absurd that only very learned men could possibly adopt them.'"

I did find other versions of this quote. Not sure which one is correct, but they all say basically the same thing.
“Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them.”
“There are some ideas so absurd that only an intellectual could believe them.”
“Some ideas are so stupid only intellectuals believe them.”

Regardless whether orwell said it, there is a lot of truth in that quote, whichever version you pick.

Buying a car? You need to check this out.

If you're considering buying a new car, you need to check this out. You know you shouldn't be paying full manufacturer's suggested retail price, but how much below that should you expect to get? TrueCar provides that information.

As they say on their website: "100% Haggle-Free New Car Price Quotes from Local Dealers - TrueCar"

This sounds like I'm advertising their site. But I'm not getting anything for it and I plan to use this the next time I buy a car so I thought I'd pass it on.

What the f$%& has Obama done so far?

If you've been paying any attention at all, you know the Barrack Obama has not brought "hope and change" to the Oval Office. Rather, he has continued business as usual, operating "transparently" behind closed doors--except when he's golfing of course. So it was fun to see this website that presents many of the issues where Obama has not lived up to his promises, with references.

"What in the fuck has Obama done so far?"
