"The Life of Julia"

This article, from Human Events, sums up my initial reaction:
"Who the hell is 'Julia,' and why am I paying for her whole life?" by David Harsanyi
The Wall Street Journal also chimes in, in James Taranto's column, Best of the Web Today:
"The Lonely Life of Julia"
I would add a few things. Is Julia really so stupid and weak that she can't do any of this stuff herself? Does she have any free will at all or are one-size-fits-all government programs the way she wants to live her life?
What does Obama think about women? What do Democrats think about women? Do they think that women are too weak and stupid to do any of this stuff for themselves?
Even you like some of these programs, does anyone really think that the government is at all capable of doing this stuff well? And doing it efficiently?
Let me put it another way: WHAT ARE THE COSTS? Democrats love talking about the benefits but they never bother to talk about the costs. They never mention that the high taxes necessary to support these programs will hamstring our economy such that Julia won't be able to easily find a job.
The Heritage Foundation produced this more hopeful and more free vision of Julia's life:
"A Better Life For Julia"

And there is this grim version of Julia's life (or should I say Julias' lives?) from National Review Online:
"Julia" by Kevin D. Williamson

Here's a brief taste of this article:
"4 months: Julia’s mother decides that giving birth will be hard on her figure. She kills Julia. Under Barack Obama, her right to do so is absolutely nonnegotiable."
