Song of the Day: Mama's Broke - How It Ends

Another sad song.  What can I say?  I love this sad, poignant song about a failed relationship.

But it's not all sad!  Even though it ended, the singer has to admit that it wasn't all bad.  Although maybe, based on the quote below, she doesn't want to remember that "the best [she's] ever had" was someone who let her down so badly.

What can I say, we've all been there.  Or at least I hope we have--I think.  Sometimes you have to take the bad with the good, in order to taste the good.  Look back and realize, oh man, there were some great times, hopefully, in any relationship.

Mama's Broke - How It Ends (Official Video)
All of the love could never be enough
To cover up the ugly and the sad
But honey if I could, I’d cover up the good
Cause even when it was bad, you were the best I’vе ever had

Then again, later in the song:

Even when it was bad, you were the best I’ve ever had
Now I know how it ends
But I should have known then

Song lyrics, from Genius:

How It Ends Lyrics

[Verse 1]
All those nights you wouldn’t dance with me
You spent the whole time smoking
And avoiding all my friends
I should have known then

[Verse 2]
Down at the bottom, sitting in the car
You left me on the hilltop
To mourn alone the passing of my friend
I should have known then
I should have known then

[Chorus]
All of the love could never be enough
To cover up the ugly and the sad
But honey if I could, I’d cover up the good
Cause even when it was bad, you were the best I’vе ever had

[Verse 3]
You came in crying, sworе you needed God
Said it broke your heart to go
But I was in your way
There’s nothing left to say
So many lies that all begin this way. A home with a garden, and “I’m yours forever darling” But you wrote the same old story in another woman’s bed Just like all the other men I should have known then

[Chorus]
All of the love could never be enough
To cover up the ugly and the sad
But honey if I could, I’d cover up the good
Even when it was bad, you were the best I’ve ever had
Now I know how it ends
But I should have known then

Song of the Day: Strawberry Runners - Look Like This

Have I mentioned before that I love finding new music?  You, my seven listeners*, know I do!

I LOVE the vibe of this song.

Strawberry Runners - Look Like This
I've got needs
I can't pinpoint
It's a comedy
I'm just a decoy

Lyrics, from Genius.com:

Look Like This
Strawberry Runners

Listen to me
I'm not half right
But if I could be
I'd never put up a fight
I've got needs
I can't pinpoint
It's a comedy
I'm just a decoy

And you
Are you the catalyst?
Or you
Are you the monolith?

And if I could see it
Like Patrick
I wouldn't be so sick
I'd be a big hit
But on the count of three
I'm gonna wake up
I'm gonna shake this dread
I'm gonna clean my head

And you
You don't exist
And you
You look like this

And you
You don't exist
And you
You look like this
And you
You look like this
And you
You look like this
And you

Song of the Day: Dengue Fever - Seeing Hands

I've always loved this song, but I happened to listen to it again recently and look up the lyrics.  Obviously I don't know what they are singing.  But check out this translation, wow!!  It's more intense than I realized!

Lyrics from Genius.com:

Seeing Hands
Dengue Fever

Forest of pine trees on the ocean floor
Self-hypnotized from holding still for hours
Drift out to sea, frozen
Forgetting how to move muscle

First I'm going to heat you up
And then I'm going to freeze you
So that you can think
Of all the ways you hurt me

Then, after thousands of years
If I'm in a good mood
I'll let you crawl out
Crawl out from your cave

I've given you everything I have
And you wasted it all
Now it's winter time
And you can suck on a hair ball
And chew on dry fish bones

Then, if I'm in a good mood
We can go for a walk
Roll down a grass hill
Soak our feet in the river
