Earth Overshoot Day?

Fascinating article about how many people the earth can support.  Are we depleting resources faster than we can replenish them?  Are we ultimately looking at some sort of mass extinction as a result?

Perhaps the discussion of climate change is missing the main point.  Maybe we should be thinking more generally about the carrying capacity of the earth.

And what's the deal with Australians living more extravagantly than we are here in the U.S.?   :)

So maybe you heard about a little bridge collapse here in Atlanta recently.  Ouch, that will NOT help our traffic situation. Anyway, I was browsing around the internet, looking at stories about the incident and I came across this, from the Atlanta Urinal Constitution, online at www.ajc.com:
